Why a "standard" ERP will never work for an elevator company (and the made-to-measure answer)

One of the most common fears among elevator-company owners considering new software is having to distort how they work. Many have already tried generic ERPs adapted to the sector, or rigid accounting platforms that impose abstract operational flows, forcing staff into bureaucratic contortions or keeping the old Excel files running in parallel.

The lifting-installation industry has unique specifics. Strict rules, 24/7 emergency handling, tracking by serial number, preventive maintenance, immovable legal deadlines, and so on. A system that is not born around those logics ends up as an obstacle instead of a help.

The illusion of universal software

The mistake of monolithic software is to assume every company works the same way. Some firms focus only on condominiums, others are structured for large public works or private sites, and others have unique ways of running the spare-parts warehouse or reporting to building managers.

When the software is rigid, one of these three scenarios appears:

  • the company stops tracking data that is fundamental to how it operates;
  • staff abandon the system and go back to manual methods;
  • you pay very high customisation costs to external software agencies that do not know the sector.

The guarantee of continuous evolution at zero extra cost

The right digital approach in this sector combines a solid architecture with development flexibility.

Being able to rely on a platform structured around the real flows of the elevator sector, backed by an in-house R&D team ready to build custom data fields or specific operational flows on request at no extra cost, removes the investment risk at the root. The company does not adapt to the software; the software evolves around the real operation of the business.

That is why we built Elevops. We did not start from the idea of selling yet another generic ERP with a few relabelled tags. We went into elevator companies to digitise their real flows. We built a solid architecture that already answers every rule and emergency in the sector, and we stand ready with our in-house R&D team to develop free of charge every customisation, data field or specific flow your company needs. Software must bend to your way of working, never the other way round.

Is your company using a tool born for its processes, or is it still trying to adapt to what it bought?
